Yazd Province

A documentary photographic archive of Yazd Province in central Iran, exploring its historic cities, desert landscapes, architectural heritage, traditional culture, and contemporary life. The collection focuses on the distinctive relationship between people, architecture, water, and the desert environment that has shaped Yazd for centuries. It includes photographs from the historic city of Yazd, with its UNESCO-listed earthen architecture, traditional houses, windcatchers, qanats, bazaars, mosques, water cisterns, covered alleys, and the historic Dolat-Abad Garden, as well as other significant places across the province. The archive also extends to historic towns and cultural landscapes such as Abarkuh, with its ancient Sarv-e Abarkuh, and other locations where traditional architecture, local heritage, desert landscapes, and everyday life remain visible. Through a documentary approach, these photographs present Yazd not simply as a tourist destination, but as a living part of contemporary Iran where ancient heritage and modern life continue to coexist.
