Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Iran
A documentary photographic archive of Sistan and Baluchestan Province in southeastern Iran, exploring one of the country's most geographically and culturally diverse regions. The collection spans the ancient landscapes of Sistan, the archaeological heritage of Shahr-i Sokhta, the historic fortress landscape of Kuh-e Khwaja, the traditional culture and crafts of Baluchestan, and the coastal landscapes of Chabahar along the Makran coast and the Oman Sea. It includes photographs of ancient settlements, historic architecture, traditional villages, local people and crafts, desert landscapes, the Hamun region, the dramatic Martian Mountains, the Pink Coast, Tis and its historic Portuguese Fort, fishing communities, and the distinctive landscapes surrounding Chabahar. The collection also explores living cultural traditions such as the hand-built pottery of Kalpuragan, recognized for its long-standing pottery tradition. Through a documentary perspective, these photographs present Sistan and Baluchestan as a living landscape shaped by ancient civilizations, migration, trade, local cultures, desert environments and the sea.
