CURATORIAL INTRODUCTION

A documentary photographic collection from Abarkuh, a historic city in Yazd Province, central Iran. The collection explores Abarkuh’s distinctive cultural heritage, historic architecture, traditional urban fabric, and surrounding desert landscape. It includes photographs of the ancient Sarv-e Abarkuh, one of the city’s most celebrated natural landmarks, as well as important historical sites such as Gonbad-e Ali, the Abarkuh Jameh Mosque, Masjed-e Birun, Aghazadeh House and its famous windcatcher, Solat House, the traditional earthen ice house, and other surviving monuments and historic structures. Together, these photographs document Abarkuh as a living landscape where ancient heritage, Persian architecture, local culture, and contemporary life continue to meet.
